View Full Version : How do we get America to read this?

There are very few authors that capture my attention span and keep it. Lee has done that.

Having a background as a Russian Interrogator in the military, I enjoyed the Russian in the novel, and was shocked how he actually got it right! Also, the career development between the characters was well though-out and well developed. It was believable. One has to change their paradigm while imagining a world where our borders do not matter - our planteary survival does. That shows a rift from the traditional military responsibility to one of accomplish the mission and the rest shall follow. Remington's natural leadership ability is awarded and allowed to floruish. This is key!

Becan's the character that has me. I'm like him, I enjoy his banter and welcome him as the comedic relief in the serious situations. I would like to see Sveta back. Somehow her departure didn't seem like a "Farewell" but more of a "See you later...".

I also see an alliance of respect finally going to develop between max and Remington. Both thrust in leadership roles, and Max might actually understand that the GL was earned, not something to be bragged about. There's also the common sense element that says another Lion may just be in store for Remington after his takeover of the turret and capturing a POW - all after oetting past 4 noboats AND carriers. That's simply awesome and a testament to his leadership ability, and decisiveness.

I could go on and on....

(Oh, and say what you want about Thoor, I thought he was an *** for leaving Tolya to die... but he is effective. Tough situation for the EDEN leadership. WELL DONE Lee, even in the higher ecehlons, away from Scott's situation, you've developed conflict and worry, and done so whereas not to distract but add to the read)

To spread Lee's book to the masses he need to come up to Chicago. From there we'll setup a base of operations and get him on Oprah and preferably into her book club. #1 best seller here you come.

A movie and subsequent video game release! :D

Ya know, Lee... I AM a screenwriter. :p Look what Frank Darabont did with Stephen King's Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile.

On a side note... dagnabit! I just read that Darabont has The Mist (another King short story) coming out. I was working on a screenplay adaptation of that. Grrr...

^^^I agree. I can imagine a video game that's a little like Halo and a little like Gears of War.

That sounds about right. Toss in a little like Rainbow Six: Vegas and I'm sold. I prefer my games a little more tactical and my bullets to feel lethal. :)

It's high time I helped answer this question!

One of the biggest things anyone could do to help (besides word of mouth) is to add tags to the book on Amazon.com. By tagging the book, it remains at the top of searches for general categories, such as "science fiction" and "adventure." Dawn of Destiny has been tagged nine times in science fiction, which almost has it on the first page of science fiction popularity. Tagging is a surprisingly little-used feature, but one that definitely gives books a free boost in publicity.

You can add tags to as many categories as you want, but the big four that help Epic out the most, are: 'science fiction', 'sci-fi', 'scifi', and 'fiction'. Getting a lot of tags in those categories means that it'll be in competition with some of the major leaguers. For example, the top tagged fiction book is the Da Vinci Code, with only 32 tags. The top tagged science fiction product (not just book) is the Firefly DVD collection, with only 39 tags. In other words, it's very possible to top this list!

So that's a free, easy, quick way that you can help Epic out. Just click this link (http://www.amazon.com/Epic-Dawn-Destiny-Lee-Stephen/dp/0978850807) and you can tag away!

Good to see so much eager support in the Epic community. You're making a significant difference!

Stay tuned to the Epic board, as there are plenty of updates on the way in the very near future.

I agree, Lee. This appears to be an increasingly popular way to search for things. If any of you visit the Internet Movie Databse (IMDB.com), they do the same thing there now. The Lord of the Rings, for example, has tags of "Magic, No Opening Credits, Kraken, Loss Of Friend, Stabbed In The Shoulder" LOL

Let's get some more befitting ones tagged for DoD at Amazon.com for Lee. I tagged it a while back with "Science Fiction, military sf, alien invasion, war, survive". I think I will go add "fiction, scifi, and sci-fi".

Let's get the word out on this thing!

I've got an ad on the front page of my website (http://www.spuler.us)linking directly to the Amazon page... I get at least 7,000 visitors every day, so I hope that I am doing my part.

That's awesome!

Lee, how about car wrapping ads? ;-p I'd drive the Jeep around with plasma bolts and Bakma decals all over.

Is there a button/banner or something of the like where I could post it on my blogs? They hardly get any traffic, but it's about the least I can do online. I'd also like to post a link to epicuniverse on there. That okay with you?

PP, we can just bump the DoD thread in OT on the TBBB. We all know it's the most popular site on the net.

I'm trying. I enjoy talkinga bout the book now. I didn't really want to read that thread in case there were spoilers, but I'm happy to bump it now! Also tagged the book at Amazon.

I'd still like to know if I can link this website/forum and have maybe a banner or something of the sorts. I don't want to impead on any privacy stuff though. I'll await Mr. Stephen's response.

When did you finish reading it Becan?
