There are very few authors that capture my attention span and keep it. Lee has done that.
Having a background as a Russian Interrogator in the military, I enjoyed the Russian in the novel, and was shocked how he actually got it right! Also, the career development between the characters was well though-out and well developed. It was believable. One has to change their paradigm while imagining a world where our borders do not matter - our planteary survival does. That shows a rift from the traditional military responsibility to one of accomplish the mission and the rest shall follow. Remington's natural leadership ability is awarded and allowed to floruish. This is key!
Becan's the character that has me. I'm like him, I enjoy his banter and welcome him as the comedic relief in the serious situations. I would like to see Sveta back. Somehow her departure didn't seem like a "Farewell" but more of a "See you later...".
I also see an alliance of respect finally going to develop between max and Remington. Both thrust in leadership roles, and Max might actually understand that the GL was earned, not something to be bragged about. There's also the common sense element that says another Lion may just be in store for Remington after his takeover of the turret and capturing a POW - all after oetting past 4 noboats AND carriers. That's simply awesome and a testament to his leadership ability, and decisiveness.
I could go on and on....

(Oh, and say what you want about Thoor, I thought he was an *** for leaving Tolya to die... but he is effective. Tough situation for the EDEN leadership. WELL DONE Lee, even in the higher ecehlons, away from Scott's situation, you've developed conflict and worry, and done so whereas not to distract but add to the read)
