View Full Version : Who's a Gamer?

I suspect in this crowd there are a few gamers among us. I myself am a very regualr player. Once upon a time in college I loved PC games, but now I've transitioned over to an XBOX 360. I'm really enjoying it.
So, here are the questions:
Console or PC?
Favorite Game Type?
What are you currently playing?
Favorite game of all time?
I'll kick it off as I was the one to bring it up.
As you can see from above, I'm 99% console gaming now.
My favorite game type really should be types, Tactical Shooters and Sports.
Currently I'm playing NCAA 08 Football and Rainbox Six: Vegas.
My favorite game of all time is a hard call, pretty much anything Nintendo.

PC, Strategy, Nothing ( D: ), UFO Enemy Unknown. (Or X-Com: UFO Defense, as I believe it's known to the American market.)
Well, by nothing I mean I'm currently stuck with a Laptop that doesn't like playing anything recent. :(

XBOX 360.
Tactical Shooters, Arcade Racing, Action RPGs.
Rainbow Six: Vegas is my most commonly played game, although my XBOX sees a lot of variety.
Favorite of all time is difficult. X-COM is awesome. Final Fantasy 1 stands out as something that absorbed a lot of my 9 year old mind. I actually liked Rune a lot for PC, and Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear was a staple of college.
Most commonly I'll play anything that is co-op.

I second both you you on XCOM. That game was outstanding, I should probably edit my favorite game of all time and add Fallout.
I was addicited to fall out for a few years during college.

Used to play x-com years ago but got really into it again for a while after reading Dawn of Destiny and talking to Lee about the game.
I'll play on PC since the consolles are way too expensive for me. Especially since most of the games I like to play are pretty old anyway, at least in the world of computer games. And they are more suitet for PCs than consolles. I love adventure games, especially all of the old Lukas Arts ones like Monkey Island and Indiana Jones. Thank god for walkthroughs though.
RPGs can be a lot of fun as well. Currently I'm going through Baldur's Gate but I don't spend nearly as much time playing as I did when I was younger so it is probably going to take a while.
Other than that I occassionally play some sports games, pretty much anything that EA Sports puts out there. Although I wish they would develope their games a lot more than they do from year to year. And finally I love simulation games, Sim City, Civilisation, Transport Tycoon and anything else in that category. Although I never seem to stay interested for long enough to build something really big. As a kid I loved platform games like Giana Sisters and Super Mario but I'm not too crazy about the new 3D ones, so I'll just play the old ones for relaxation once in a while.

I have a 360 but don't play it much. That might change soon, though as I want to get a couple of new games. Most of my gaming time now, however, is spent on the pc. I play World of Warcraft a bit with a few friends but I don't do much with it. I'm not sure I would classify myself as a "gamer' but I do enjoy a fun game now and then. I mostly like having the gadjets and the capability of playing games if I want to. I guess I am a poser. :D

I do all of my gaming on the PC. I have an Alienware Area-51 7500 that is just plain bad. Anyways, on to the next question.....
As far as game type, I mostly play stategy games, Command and Conquer: Generals being my favorite of that group. A few RPGs, just finished the main story line in Eldar Scrolls: Oblivion a couple weeks back. Awesome game. Also, I'm a big fan of Fable, but it looks like I may have to get an XBox 360 to play the sequal.
Currently, I'm playing Generals:Zero Hour, which is really great. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes stategy games.
Finally, for my favorite game of all time, I'm going to have to go with the popular mainstream choice: HALO. I remember getting a bunch of friends together on-line on the original XBox system and having multiplayer battles that would last until dawn. Good times. I would have to give Oblivion honorable mention however, since there is just so much stuff to do in that game. I've got over 60 hours in, and I still haven't explored everything there is to do.

Halo is good. No doubt about it. Despite sounding like an advertisement, everything I've read about Halo 3 seems to indicate it was designed with players in mind. The levels of customization and the amount of features they've put into that game already make it one of the best games I've played. I enjoyed the heck out of the Multiplayer Beta, and that was playing the game at its worst (with a ton of pre-adolescent annoyances and a lack of control) so when I finally get to play the game with my friends and control the settings, I think I'll be superbly satisfied.
Here's looking forward to Halo 3!

Since spawning a child, I been off the juice (PC and Playstation 2) for quite some time. But, my all time favorites are tactical shooters, WWII types. I like taking my time, exploring every single inch of the game, tactics, stealth, thoroughness (no 'timed' games). Don't care for racing or Mario style.
PC - I really like Battlefield II but had a tough time getting it to work on my compy. Also, back in the day (and I still have thoughts of getting the dust off and firing it up) Roller Coaster Tycoon.
