I was talking to my friend the other day, and my teacher also jumped into the conversations we had about guns.At first it started off about video games, then we discussed it a little further.

are the sniper rifles of the EPIC universe bolt action, or semi-automatic?
To anyone who doesn't know the difference, bolt action means you have to pull the bolt back for each shot. IE the m200 CHEYAC intervention.

A semi-automatic would be something along the lines of a SR25 or Barret M107, these can be shot until their magazines are empty.

so, in the discussion, we decided somewhere that bolt actions are more accurate and do go further, but there roles with the semi automatics are truly different.

IE if you want someone to lay suppression, you would use the semi-automatic
if you sue the bolt-action, your taking that longshot to assassinate that ceratopian royal.

now I'm not sure whether it is mentioned or not, but does anyone know which type of rifle EDEN uses? If not what is your guess?

Wow. I've been away a while. Going through all the posts I missed and I found this one.

I've always assumed that the sniper-rifles they use in the time of Epic are magazine fed. Just seems like that'd be the natural evolution of the rifle: the slower the reload the less efficient the gun. I'm assuming of course that by this time the engineers of the world have made magazine-fed rifles just as powerful and accurate as any bolt-actions.

Just my thoughts.

i think theyd be semi automatic too. It would seem as though semi automatic rifles would be able to provide more cover and more firepower for when it calls it

From my understanding (which is possibly completely wrong) semi-auto and full auto rifles lose some of their kinetic power, which would otherwise be used to fire the projectile in order to eject the spent cartridge and load the next round.

if that is true, a bolt action rifle would almost always be a better choice for surgical sniping from long distances. There would have to be some sort of external mechanism to allow a semi to maintain its full kinetic potential. say some sort of motorized action?

once again, I could be completely wrong.
