Favorite Quotes from Hero
There were a lot of good ones in this book. I think that of the three this is my favorite thus far. But what were everyone's favorite quotes/lines in this book?
My personnel favorite came from Will.
"Dude, I'll bet we can get our barbeque back."

Agreed, one of the better quotes. I'm glad things like that get left in. A lot of times during the editing phase either the editor or the author will question whether certain jokes should be there, whether they're appropriate and whatnot. I personally greatly enjoy the sort of humor that feels genuine and not 'prototypical fiction' humor.
William is pretty much perfect for that sort of situation. Love it.

i think that will is the comic relief inn the series. like during the battle scene where him and derrick were the only two to come back. he shouted battering ram!!! just like the first time they all fought together!!

I don't know about a favorite quote, but my favorite overall scene in the book was after Esther has dumped her porridge on Sveta's head in the cafeteria, Sveta walks into the bunkroom with a bowl of porridge and a pie, and proceeds to dump the porridge on Esther's head, and then shove the pie in her face, to illustrate the difference to everyone else.
And Will is sitting there and his comment is "Dude, this unit rocks!"
That was my favorite part of the whole book.

That actually was a really good scene. Again, Harbinger is like the perfect punctuation for the end of a great sentence. Everything that guy touches either gets better or gets "Battering Rammed".

The humor is one thing I really like about this book. I'll be reading about a very intense battlescene and be really cought up in the action and all of a sudden someone says something that just cracks me up. And it happens over and over again.
There are way too many to even look up now, but I just finished the book so there are a few from the final battle that still stands out:
"Max, call your dog!", "Call my dog-?"
You can just imagine the puzzled look on his face.
"hope is a carrot," answered Max. "We're the horse"
William looked at him strangely. "What?"
"It's a metaphor."
"What's a metaphor?"
"What I just said."
"A carrot is metaphor? Is that like a petit four?"
Max stared at the demolitionist. "If you're serious, I'm killing myself."
"I know a way out of here," said Esther. "There's an exit to the roof from the third level."
"The third level?" Scott asked. "Do you have any idea how many Ceratopians are between us and the third level?"
"If you go my route, not very many."
Scott stopped firing. He turned around to face his British scout. "Was that a 300 course, too?"
"I gotta figure out how I did this," Max enthused, his hands fast on the controls. "They're gonna name this after me. They'll teach it in books!" He opened the comm to his whole team. "It'll be the 'Axen Technique!"
"you gotta be kidding me! I pull off the technical feat of the century and we freakin' pull out? I don't even know how I did it yet!"
David cleared his throat over the comm. "The 'Axen Technique,' right? Is t a tactical retreat?"
Reading these paragraphs again, I think I might actually be becomming a bit of a Max fan.

Agreed on the Max transition from complete jerk to entertaining scruffy guy. He's one of my favorite characters overall because he feels whole.
William is probably the funniest character in the series to me. He tops everyone in that department.

that was hilarious. Max: I DID IT! I DID IT! i'll be famous. they'll name this the Axen technique!
i think another good one that no one mentioned is with Esther. where as they are racing out of the ship and shes talks to the two reinforcement
Esther: YOur names Custer!?
Custer: yeah what about it?
Ester:.... we're all gonna die.

Esther popping Nijinsky was one of my favorite parts of the series. Showed that Esther wasn't a "by the book" person. She's willing to face execution for treason under EDEN's law in order to exact vengeance for Scott.
To me, that's a big deal. Very interesting part of the canon. Should make for an interesting mix in the future as well.

true that. i still maintain that scotts gonna be reeaaallly mad about someone else making nijinsky pay. that was one of his sole purposes left.
im rather fond of max now. i recall one of his quote sthat made me say "aw".
"he isnt going to lose me, i swear that"

I agree with you, Steph. Max has come around and developed into a very, very good character, one with enough depth to stand out from the various 2D soldiers in the squads.
When there's a scene with Max in it, I found myself instinctively enjoying it. Lee writes him very well.
